The Alberta Continuing Care Association (ACCA) Awards of Excellence celebrate outstanding individuals and organizations across Alberta’s continuing care sector who go above and beyond to enhance quality of life for those they serve.
This year, we are very proud to celebrate two 2025 Alberta Continuing Care Association Awards of Excellence recognizing innovation and dedication across BSF:
Innovator of the Year Award – Rhythms of Life Drum Circle Toolkit
BSF received the Innovator of the Year Award for our Rhythms of Life Drum Circle toolkit. This toolkit was designed by BSF's Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation, & Quality (CLIQ) to help continuing care facilities and community organizations implement drum circles into their Therapeutic Recreation programming.
BSF has implemented Rhythms of Life Drum Circles at all five of our continuing care sites. This program reimagines traditional recreation in continuing care by using rhythm and connection to support wellness, inclusion, and engagement for residents of all abilities. The accompanying toolkit allows other organizations to replicate the program and learn from our experience.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Johana G., Bow View Manor
Johana G., Recreation Therapy Aide at Bow View Manor, received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional dedication and forty years of compassionate service that have enriched the lives of countless residents.
Congratulations, Johana, for being selected as the deserving recipient of this award!
These awards reflect BSF’s ongoing commitment to innovation, inclusion, and enhancing quality of life — and the incredible people who make our work possible every day.
