A collaborative partnership between the Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation, and Quality and Imagine Canada has officially concluded, marking the successful development of two knowledge products designed to strengthen understanding of the nonprofit workforce and support improved outcomes across the sector.
The partnership centred on Imagine Canada’s People First: A Portrait of Canada’s Nonprofit Workforce, a comprehensive report that outlines key labour force trends, demographic shifts, and structural challenges shaping the sector. Building on this foundation, the project translated the report’s data and insights into two practical resources: a visual infographic and a white paper.
These knowledge products aim to equip nonprofit leaders, funders, policy makers, and community partners with accessible tools to better navigate issues such as retention, compensation pressures, equity considerations, and the evolving composition of Canada’s nonprofit workforce. Together, they offer an evidence-informed starting point for reflection, strategy development, and sector-wide dialogue.
The infographic and white paper are now available for sector changemakers seeking to deepen their understanding of the workforce landscape and engage in collective action to share the future of Canada’s nonprofit sector. These tools are already gaining visibility, with the infographic being featured as part of national discussions at Imagine Canada’s 2025 Leadership Roundtable in Ottawa. The resource helped spark conversation and aided conversations on emerging trends and challenges shaping the sector’s future.
